A Last Minute… Injury?

A Last Minute… Injury?

I guess you might have guessed from my lack of posting that I did not run in the Arkansas Race for the Cure Saturday.  Since Friday morning my little running world has once again been rocked upside down- a simple reminder to me that there are many more important things in life than running and I guess I needed that reminder.  Why do I tend to get these reminders right before a big race?? Friday morning all I had on…

The week AFTER the marathon

The week AFTER the marathon

As a long distance runner, the week AFTER a marathon is one of my least favorite times of the year.  The day or two after the big race are great.  I’m sore as I’ll get out but my emotions and adrenaline are still going strong from the race.  Somewhere around 3-4 days post marathon things start heading south.  I really start to miss running.  If you are a marathon runner you know what I’m talking about and if you’re not…

No Man’s Land

No Man’s Land

Two weeks ago was the D & L Heritage Marathon.  Two weeks from today is the St. Jude Marathon.  That puts me right smack in the middle of no man’s land. It is a complete recipe for DISASTER.  Smart runners would…

Rest Days and Being Crafty

Rest Days and Being Crafty

This morning I was supposed to meet a friend for a nice 8 mile run.  After yesterday’s awesome workout my body was screaming for a rest day.  My stress fracture area was a tiny bit “achy” and my legs were SO SORE.  I had run 5 days in a row which is a first in probably 18 months. So I decided to listen to my body and make it a rest day.  I didn’t want to, especially because I had…

Letting it all sink in…

Letting it all sink in…

Today I cancelled our Boston plane tickets, rental car and hotel room which made not going seem very official. Travelling with a baby is hard enough when you are feeling well and as much as I would LOVE to cheer for my running girls I think it would be too much stress on my body. So that is that. After cancelling everything, I did buy myself a nice Boston running jacket from the registered Boston Marathon Apparel on the Adidas…
