With the Chicago Marathon just 8 weeks from Sunday, summer training is in full swing. I have had a wide range of workouts- all in the blazing heat. Some have gone well and others not so much. Running and racing in warmer temps is definitely not my favorite but I know it prepares me for a stronger fall racing season
Hello Summer Time! Apparently the first “official day of summer” was June 21st but to be honest it’s been summer around here for well over a month. The kids have been home from school for several weeks now and the heat is on! VBS is this week at church and summer is in full swing. This picture makes me smile!

August was really the main month of the year I was worried about and for good reason. Nothing good comes from racing in August. At least not in Arkansas!
Yesterday I ran in another 5K. I knew going into the race that once again my training was not where it needed to be because of my patellar tendonitis. I have been cross training much more than running this past month and it all caught up to me yesterday- along with some pretty intense heat. For some reason, 5 K
Yes, it’s July and the best place to be is inside in the air conditioning. You have two options: run inside on a treadmill OR outside where it is blazing. What are you going to do? Personally, I usually prefer to run outside. In the summer months I run early and try to stay up on my fluids to avoid
