Quick Race Update- Capital City Classic 10k and the Wildcat Extra Mile

Capital City Classic 10k The running theme this spring has been “just go with it.” For a number of reasons I’ve learned to be more flexible and remember no race plan is set in stone. For example, the first Saturday of April has always been the Capital City Classic 10k in Little Rock.  I’ve run this race every year since 2012.  This year it was scheduled for 5 PM so all week I braced myself for a warm, muggy 10k….

Two races back in April… Capital City Classic 10k- 2017 edition AND Chip’s Share it Forward 5k

I am a few race reports behind so I thought I’d catch up before I forgot all together.  I’m not sure how many people even read these but I tend to be a repeat racer so I guess I’m doing this so I can remember for next time. Race: Capital City Classic 10K Date: April 1, 2017 Location: Little Rock, AR Time: 8:00 AM This was my 5th straight year to run the Capital City Classic 10k. I’ve always liked…

A 5k, a 10k and the Ups and Downs of Racing Often

A 5k, a 10k and the Ups and Downs of Racing Often

Yesterday marked 4 weeks since the Little Rock Marathon.  Since then I’ve actually run in 3 other races- a 2 mile race, a 5k , and a 10k.  While I do love to race I probably would not have been so quick to pin on a bib number (especially 3 times!) had it not been for the Arkansas Grand Prix series. When you race often you just have to know that not every race is going to be a PR…

Capital City Classic 10k Race Report and a Change in Plans…

Hello there!  Long time…  I am a few race reports behind- 3 to be exact!  I really want to get caught up so forgive me if this seems a bit condensed!  I thought I would start with my favorite race in Arkansas and go from there. 🙂 The Race: Capital City Classic 10k The Date: Saturday, April 4, 2015 Time: 8:00 am Location: Little Rock, AR This year was actually my 5th year to run this race.  My first year…

Capital City Classic 10K- Race Report

Capital City Classic 10K- Race Report

Well here we are over a week out after the Capital City 10k and I guess it’s about time I get this race recap written. I’ve actually run another race since this one- the Doc Rock and Run Half Marathon in Jonesboro, Arkansas and you better believe I will be writing about that one too.  I’ll give you a hint-it’s pretty much the exact opposite of the report you are about to read!  Let’s just say I was definitely reminded…

Capital City Classic 10K- Race Review

Capital City Classic 10K- Race Review

Yesterday was my third time to run in the Capital City Classic 10K.  If you live in central Arkansas and love to race this is one you definitely want to keep on your racing calendar.  The weather has been great every time I’ve run it and the course is perfect. Last year my big goal was to break 40 minutes in this race and when I did it was a huge confidence booster.   This year my “A” goal was…

Capital City Classic 10K Race Report- {Officially} Breaking the 40 minute mark!

Capital City Classic 10K Race Report- {Officially} Breaking the 40 minute mark!

I went into this race with a very specific goal- to break 40 minutes.  I ran in this race two years ago (actually just a few  days before I got pregnant with Ashton). At that time I my goal was to beat my 10K PR- one I had set when I was 17 years old- 41:42.  I finished in 41:43 just 1 second shy of my goal.  The Capital City Classic course is fast, flat and I knew I had…
