4th Times the Charm…

4th Times the Charm…

Is it already the end of November?  I’m not sure where this month went but we are down to the last few days.  I haven’t written in over a week.  Life has been busy.  The big kids were home all last week for Thanksgiving break and I just didn’t get around to any posts.  We had a very relaxing week home complete with no travel plans.  It was wonderful.  We had a great meal at my in-laws (who live one…

Another 5K? and NYC- 10 days and counting!!

Another 5K? and NYC- 10 days and counting!!

This first taper week is actually going surprisingly well.  I have only looked at my McMillan race pace calculation sheet a few times today so we’re doing good so far….  I have another 5K on Saturday which is really taking my mind off all things NYC.  Yes, you read that right.  I am running a 5K 8 days before NYC.  I am using this race in place of my last set of mile repeats.  5k’s are just more fun and…

My Little Rock Marathon Training (so far)… and other random thoughts

My Little Rock Marathon Training (so far)… and other random thoughts

Well, this marks my first and last “hard” week of training for the Little Rock Marathon.  Houston and Little Rock are 7 weeks apart and I am right in the middle of them now. I have only ever raced two other marathons before Houston and they were separated by ten years so having two planned 7 weeks apart is a bit new for me. I looked up a few training plans for back to back marathons and as usual I…

One.

Today is the day my baby turns 1. One year ago my world changed forever when I held my little man.   Our family was complete. I knew he was our last baby and I fully planned to savor every “last” experience.   From his first smile to rolling over.    Then when he learned to sit up on his own and when he started to crawl.      You are my sweet and precious boy.  I love you Ashton!        Happy…

November’s 30 *Things*

November’s 30 *Things*

If you are on Facebook at all, you have most likely noticed that many people are using their statuses to put something they are thankful for each day in November.  I do not get on Facebook as much as I used to but I would like to take one post to share 30 things I am thankful for… 1. My Salvation. Without my belief in God or my relationship to Christ everything else in my life would be meaningless.  Everything…

A HARD easy run and guess who is 9 months old now?!

A HARD easy run and guess who is 9 months old now?!

SO, first things first… My little Ashton is 9 months old today!! Yes, has it already been 9 months since that snowy day in January when I held my little boy for the first time? Holding my sweet baby boy- January 11, 2011 I knew at that moment our family was complete.  The past 9 months have not gone exactly as I thought they would and as a family we have had some ups and downs (with most of the…

Progress!!

Progress!!

This morning I had another tempo run.  My legs felt fresh after taking yesterday off so I was ready to go! Mile 1- 9:45 (warm-up)Mile 2- 7:19Mile 3- 7:20Mile 4- 7:09Mile 5- 6:54Mile 6- 9:58 (cool-down) My 4 mile tempo average was a 7:11 pace.  I feel pretty good about it.  It’s hard to imagine keeping that pace for 9 more miles during a half marathon but I know I have many more weeks of training.  I have come a long…
