Race Reports

CASA Half Marathon

Ready or not I ran the CASA Half Marathon exactly 4 weeks after 3 Bridges. I love this race and truly believe it’s the fastest half marathon course in Arkansas. (At this point I think I’ve run most of them!)  I’ve worked this race into my schedule every year since 2013.  CASA was originally scheduled for December but bad weather

3 Bridges Marathon 2018

Has it already been over a month since the marathon? I thought I would write this recap at some point over the holidays but obviously never got around to it. Even though things didn’t go quite as planned I like documenting my races because there’s always things I can learn from them.  I usually learn more from races like this

The Spa 10k – 2018 edition “It’s all uphill from here!”

There was never really any question of whether or not I would run the Spa 10k. I love this race.  It’s challenging and exhilarating all in one.  This is one of those races I like to run regardless of whether I’m in shape or not.  I’ve had years when I’ve been fit and ready to PR and I’ve also run

Breakaway 10k ~ 2018 edition

This past Saturday was the third time I raced the Breakaway 10k but I’ve probably run this course over a hundred times. No exaggeration. I helped design the course a few years ago and it’s one of my go-to routes. This race holds my current 10k PR- 37:51 from 2016. When I decided to add in the Midsouth Half Marathon

Midsouth Half Marathon 2018

On Saturday morning John and I made a quick trip to Wynne, AR for the Midsouth Half Marathon. I only told a few people I was even racing. I just didn’t want to make a big deal about it. I wanted to focus on my mission- to break 1:25!! Ideally I wanted to run a 1:23:xx but I knew that

Soaring Wings Half Marathon 2018

Last weekend I ran the Soaring Wings Half Marathon in Conway, Arkansas. This was my 4th Soaring Wings experience and I’d have to say it was my best. I ran it for the first time in 2009. It was actually the first half marathon I ever trained for while training for my first BQ. That year I ran a 1:39:00.

And now four 5ks later

I took a little race recap blogging break since my last post. After a few discouraging races and an injury I wasn’t in much of a mood to write about it but I’m ready to move on and look ahead now. For better or worse (probably worse) I’ve been on a bit of a 5k roll the last several weeks

White River 4 Mile Classic Race Recap 2018- the one with a new PR!!

When I look back on my fastest race times most of my PRs are from races I did not get the overall win.  My fastest marathon (2015) was set in the Chicago Marathon and obviously I wasn’t winning that one.  I finished 2nd when I ran my half marathon PR (2013).  I finished 3rd in my fastest 5k (2013) and

A 5k and a 25k in one day- and one new PR!

Whenever my family gets together for a reunion we have a tradition of finding a local race to run. This has led to some interesting race experiences over the years. We’ve raced in Arkansas, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Ohio, Alabama, and Florida. We really aren’t picky on the course or distance- just some race we can do together. This year’s reunion was

Firecracker Fast 5k 2018

The 5k has always been my favorite racing distance followed closely by the marathon.  I have no idea how many I’ve raced over the years- there’s just been way too many to count.  It was my go-to racing distance in high school when my family would pick a race to run on the weekend. In college I raced mostly 5ks
