Running has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Growing up I ran in many road races with my dad and my sisters in southeast Florida. I went on to run cross country and track in high school and then in college at Harding University. After college I took about 8 years off competitive running. I got married, had several young children right in a row and focused on my little ones. In 2009, I had the crazy idea to try to qualify for the Boston Marathon. One race led to another and before I knew it I had a renewed passion for running.
I like to race many distances from the mile to the marathon. My favorite distance to race is probably the 5k. Most of my races are in Arkansas- especially ones that are in the Arkansas Grand Prix racing series. My main goal as a runner is to run to my potential. As you can imagine, my family plays a huge role in everything I do. My husband is very supportive and accompanies me on most of my racing adventures. Our children have shown an interest in running (among other sports) so they often participate in some of the local races with me. My main desire for them when it comes to sports is to enjoy being active in whatever they do. I also want them to know that with hard work and practice they can get better and the possibilities are endless.
