It’s hard to pass up the One Hour Track Run because it is such a unique race. The race distance is up to you. How far can you run in an hour? This wasn’t on my schedule as a goal race but I had a tempo planned two days later so I messaged my coach and we moved up the workout so I could use the track run as my tempo. This removed all race pressure and I went into it as if it was a hard effort workout. I need to do this more often!
My older two were also running in it and it was nice to be able to watch them race since I saw them at several points during the race. From the get go I was feeling pretty good and the weather was perfect. My goal pace range was 6:20-6:30 but 6:20 felt pretty comfy so I went with it.
I started to lose focus a little during miles 7 and 8 but was able to pick it up during the last 1.5 miles. I ended up with over 37.5 laps. My record is 38 laps (2016) so I feel pretty good about this.
All in all it was the perfect tune-up workout/ race for the River Trail 15k! 9 more days to go!!
