Rest Days and Being Crafty

Rest Days and Being Crafty

This morning I was supposed to meet a friend for a nice 8 mile run.  After yesterday’s awesome workout my body was screaming for a rest day.  My stress fracture area was a tiny bit “achy” and my legs were SO SORE.  I had run 5 days in a row which is a first in probably 18 months. So I decided to listen to my body and make it a rest day.  I didn’t want to, especially because I had the time to run and someone to run with but I needed to be smart because I have a hard week ahead and I need to be ready for it.

I spent the day home with the kiddos.  My oldest two are off from school for the next 2 weeks so it was the whole crew.  My oldest daughter recently talked me into making a weekly meal menu out of a picture frame and scrapbook paper.  (Just use expo markers to write and erase.)

It’s just an 8×10 frame and one sheet of scrapbook paper. Super easy to make!

She saw it at one of our friends house and it sounded easy enough to make.  We have been using our new “menu” for two weeks now and I must admit that I really like it.  I am trying to plan meals ahead of time which is not something I have not always done.

Thank you, Abi for encouraging me to be more creative!

My son recently brought home one of the best Christmas gifts ever.  As soon as I saw it I knew I had something I hope to treasure for years!

My newest Christmas decor!
He is so proud of his plate! Anna looks proud of it too!

And then there’s Anna. 🙂

Making her best party face…
This girl loves chocolate like her mama!!

Ashton is at an age that is not exactly Christmas tree- friendly if you know what I mean.  Low resting ornaments are no match for his sneaky tree reaching skills.

He thinks just because he is cute he can get away with anything…
Our family stockings… I asked Abi why she taped one more stocking at the end and she replied that it was Julie’s (her American girl doll). Of course. Why didn’t I think of that!

And there you have it. I plan to get back on the running wagon tomorrow.  It’s going to be a great week!
