This morning I had a tempo run scheduled. As you can tell from the title of of this post the weather was not very cooperative. It was cold, windy and POURING down rain. If it were just me, I would have changed up the workout or done it on the treadmill. But I have a running buddy and I knew she was going to be there ready to run and I didn’t want to let her down. That is what you call accountability. 🙂
We did 9 miles through the puddles (aka rivers) and rain. I ended up averaging a 7:16 for 8 miles after the warm-up and felt strong the entire time. I didn’t go all out and I was saving a lot for my run tomorrow. I had planned to go on my first 20 miler but as of an hour ago decided to switch around my running schedule because it is supposed to be raining again tomorrow. I don’t mind running in the rain but I would prefer not to do it for 20 miles! I love this blog post about racing in the rain. When I know it is going to be raining hard my mind goes over some of the “steps” Lauren mentions in this post.
As far as the rest of the week- it is time to build up my miles! I have one more half marathon two weeks from Saturday but this week and next week are all about the miles. Hopefully I will get that 20 miler in Friday… I’m ready to kick it in full marathon training mode now!
