Pre-Pregnancy Jeans: Are we there yet???

Pre-Pregnancy Jeans: Are we there yet???

I have a favorite pair of jeans. I can’t remember when I bought them but I LOVE them. When Ashton was a few weeks old I tried them on, hoping for the best. Let’s just say it didn’t work out. A month later I tried to put them on again. This attempt was also unsuccessful. The last few days I’ve looked at them in my closet and thought about trying them on but I didn’t want to disappoint myself so…

Swimmer Mom?

Swimmer Mom?

Very funny! No, I am definitely NOT what you would call a swimmer. The correct description of me would be someone impersonating a swimmer who desperately needs swimming lessons! Yesterday was officially 2 weeks from when the doctor told me I could go swimming. So, following doctors orders, I decided to go for a swim! Fortunately, I have free access to a large indoor Olympic-size pool- thanks to the University where my husband works. The down-side- not so great pool…

Taking a break from all the cake!

Taking a break from all the cake!

Happy Easter!! All 4 of my babies- April 2011Last week we celebrated 3 birthdays in our family. And lots of CAKE! Then yesterday was Easter and for some reason we now have a TON of Easter chocolate and candy…

4K 4Kendra

4K 4Kendra

I have never heard of a 4K race but this morning my husband and daughter ran in one. The Harding University women’s basketball team hosted a 4K this morning to raise money for a former team member, Kendra Bailey who is battling cancer. To me, one of the best parts about participating in a race is having the opportunity to support a good cause and this was definitely one of those times. While I would have loved to personally participate…

What a day, what a day!

What a day, what a day!

The 115th Boston Marathon was today!! While I didn’t even run one mile, I felt as if I were there in spirit. Three of my close running training buddies were there and I tracked their race online. Very cool. I have never been on this side of tracking a runner and I must say that it is pretty exciting. I kept refreshing my screen and looking up their progress as well as the times of some blog runners I follow….

What’s Next?!

What’s Next?!

Well, we know what’s NOT next… Sadly, I will not be in Beantown this weekend. BUT, I know I will do it when the time is right. As every runner knows- when you finish one big race (or have an injury) you need ANOTHER big race goal. If I didn’t have my running goals I would probably lose my mind! There’s just something comforting about knowing that there’s a finish line out there just waiting for me. With every new…

Feelin the Love!

Feelin the Love!

Well, after several rough days in a row- yesterday was MUCH better!! My doctor’s appointment went very well! Yes, I do have a stress fracture on my sacrum BUT my doctor seems very confident that I will make a full recovery and will be running and racing again in just a few months. YEAH!! Right now he doesn’t want me to do ANY exercising for 2 weeks. I just need to rest and take it easy- especially since I am…

Letting it all sink in…

Letting it all sink in…

Today I cancelled our Boston plane tickets, rental car and hotel room which made not going seem very official. Travelling with a baby is hard enough when you are feeling well and as much as I would LOVE to cheer for my running girls I think it would be too much stress on my body. So that is that. After cancelling everything, I did buy myself a nice Boston running jacket from the registered Boston Marathon Apparel on the Adidas…

Injury Update…

Injury Update…

This morning before my doctor’s appointment I prayed that I would be ok with whatever the outcome might be. I prayed that the doctors would have wisdom to determine what was wrong and what treatment would be needed. My doctor decided to schedule me for an MRI which I had this afternoon. I was hoping that the MRI would be fine so that I could have an SI injection under fluoroscopy which would alleviate my lower back pain. Best case…
