Guess what came in the mail today???

MY BOSTON PACKET!!! Yes, I am ecstatic! Inside is my very important bib pick-up card that I must bring with me to the expo (along with photo ID). There is also a little booklet with race info and instructions which I plan to read from cover to cover. Then there is a little race merchandise and Boston apparel merchandise booklet.

Best Running Music

I do not usually listen to music when I run. *GASP* Yes, I know. I tend to run with people or if I’m alone I like to think and clear my head. And also, I have not added any new music to my IPOD in over a year. So, I plan on adding some new running music to the mix

Avoiding Injury….

Well, I’m on day 3 of no running. My legs were pretty worn out from the 20. I have been icing and stretching. Tomorrow I will try to do 3 or 4 miles. That may help. I had planned to do 3 yesterday and 8 this morning but yesterday my left leg was still hurting and this morning it was

Time to break out the shorts!

Oh boy. The 20 mile run is done and it was a HOT one! Temps in the high 80’s and windy. I know that doesn’t sound hot compared to summer temps but when you are used to colder running weather it was quite a change. My body felt fine but I am sure glad I pulled out shorts and a

Twas the Night Before a Long Run…

I don’t know if other runners get like this but the night before a long run I always get a little excited. Who wouldn’t get excited about running 20 miles?! Before any long run I’m a little anxious about the upcoming day and looking forward to pushing myself out of my running comfort zone. What do I do the night

My Biggest Challenges

A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood…

This afternoon was GORGEOUS. Perfect weather to be out enjoying some vitamin D. With dinner in the oven, 4 restless kids, and still another 30 minutes to go until John got home I decided to make the most of things and head outdoors. This was actually my first time to do so with all 4. We’ve had Ashton pretty much

17 done.

Icing after a long run… Today was a big day. I had my first real marathon training “long run.” My goal for this run was to keep it under a 9 minute pace. As Boston approaches (5 weeks from yesterday!) I have been giving my race strategy some thought. While my overall goal is to finish and enjoy the whole

Tired Legs…

It’s been a long week. Logged in 30 miles, including the race. Yesterday I did a 5 mile paced run. My goal was to finish in under 40 minutes (which means running faster than an 8 minute mile for 5 miles.) I did it with some time to spare but it wore me out. I used to be able to
