10K coming soon…

This past weekend we went bowling with some friends. We’re not very good but we had a great time!As a runner it is definitely necessary to take 1 or 2 days off a week. I pushed myself in training pretty hard last week since I have a race this weekend so I am easing up a bit now. Today and tomorrow are rest days. I will run an easy 4 Thursday and take off again Friday. Over the past week I have done two track speed work-outs, 1 pace run, 1 tempo run and a long run. Saturday is my first official 10 K race since 1996! I would love to beat my last 10K time but that might be hard. I ran a 41:42. I was 17. That is a 6:42 avg. I don’t know if I am capable of that right now. I am going to try to avg. a 6:45 for the first few miles and if I feel good I will kick it up a notch the last 2. We’ll just have to see. I am not used to racing that fast and short of a distance. I used to think 10K’s were so long. When did I turn into a distance runner?! I really like the length and race pace of a Half Marathon. Even a full marathon. We’ll just see how this one goes….
